A metal-encapsulated electrical medium-voltage switching installation has a metal housing (11) which accommodates switching devices. This metal housing (11) has assigned to it a fuse housing (22) for accommodating high-current, high-voltage fuses (23, 24 and 25). Bushings having bushing bolts (26) are provided between the fuse housing (22) and the metal housing (11). Connecting conductors to the individual switching devices (L1, L2, L3), which are associated with the bushing bolts on a phase by phase basis, are connected to those bushing ends of said bushing bolts (26) which open in the interior of the metal housing (11), that is to say of the switching device area. In order to make the fuse housing (22) able to withstand increased short-circuit currents without further measures, the cross-sections of the connecting conductors (29, 30, 31) are dimensioned such that they can carry the rated current continuously but melt like fuses in the event of short-circuit currents. <IMAGE>
