PURPOSE:To enable output data to be printed individually or in a synthesized form by providing a data reception buffer installed to a plurality of data reception lines of different interface systems, a data processing means which processes data in a time-dividing manner and an output means which outputs controlled data individually or in a synthesized form. CONSTITUTION:Ordinary data is stored in a page buffer 22, form registration data in a form buffer 23, and external-character registration data in a external- character RAM 24 respectively. If the data is at its end, whether or not the data is overlapped is checked, and if it is not overlapped data, only data re ceived on the serial signal side is used to perform printing normally and the printing terminates. If the data is overlapped, a reception status on the serial signal side is set. The status includes flags such as registration form No.F3, a pi-character registration No.F4, serial signal end F5, etc., and specified flags F3-F5 are set in SRAM 21. In this way, processing is executed so that over lapped printing is realized with the use of data received from the parallel signal side and data received from the serial signal side at the time of printing. |
