PURPOSE:To obtain the title material having a coating film which is not discolored or degenerated by weld heat, UV, etc., and exhibiting satisfactory heat resistance by forming an SiO2 hardened coating film contg. practically no metallic element on the surface of an Al or Al alloy material by a prescribed amt. per unit area. CONSTITUTION:An SiO2 hardened coating film contg. practically no metallic element, consisting of Si and O and having 0.005-0.05mum grain size is formed on the surface of an Al or Al alloy material by about 5-300mg/dm<2>. In order to form the film, an organosilicon compd. dispersed or dissolved in an org. solvent such as ethanol may be applied to the surface of the Al or Al alloy material and baked under such conditions that the mechanical properties are deteriorated by <=10%, e.g., at 200 deg.C for 10min. The resulting Al or Al alloy material has the above-mentioned characteristics and the corrosion resistance of the coating film is comparable to or higher than that of an anodic oxide film of about 10mum thickness. |
