<p>A method is provided for controlling the biological characteristics of a solid, liquid or gaseous material (22) by contacting the material with one or more substantially insoluble substances of a composition to be active upon the material (22). The substance(s) may be for example an agglutinating polymer such as a lectin, antibody, or polysaccharide, having a high affinity for biological cells in the material and/or an amine-containing compound capable of inhibiting cell growth in a complex medium (22) and/or a binding composition having affinity for at least one biological growth factor of the cells.</p> |
