In electronic devices which are operated in motor vehicles, it is known to provide a removable control unit as anti-theft protection. However, with these devices anti-theft protection is only ensured if the control unit is actually taken along when the vehicle is left. With the new electronic device, the intention is to monitor suitably the necessity of removing the control unit. For this purpose, the new device is a control device which monitors the operating or parked position of the ignition lock located in the vehicle by means of a control line. The control device activates an electroacoustic playback device and a signal generator for producing an acoustic signal precisely when the ignition lock is in the parked position and the control unit has still not been removed. The electronic devices are likely to be in particular radios and/or cassette players.
