NEW MATERIAL:A compd. of formula I [wherein X1-X2 are each (cyclo)alkyl, (alkyl-, alkoxy- or halogen-substituted) phenyl or benzyl, X1 and X2 may form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic group together with N combined therewith, X3 is H, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, Y1 is H, alkyl, (alkyl-, alkoxy- or halogen- substituted) phenyl or benzyl, Y2 is H or CH3]. EXAMPLE:A compound of formula I, wherein X1 is CH3-, X2 is CH3-, X3 is H, Y1 is CH3- and T2 is H. USE:A color-forming leuco pigment as a color-forming reactant of recording materials such as a pressure-sensitive recording paper, thermal recording paper and an optical recording material which is a benzhydryltetrahydroquinoline capable of developing a blue color upon being brought into contact with a developer. PREPARATION:About 1mol of 6-formyltetrahydroquinone derivative of formula II is condensed with about 2mol of an aniline derivative of formula III. |
