PURPOSE:To produce antibiotic substances SF2448A, SF2448B and SF2448C, by cultivating a microorganism, belonging to the genus Microbispora and capable of producing the antibiotic substances SF2448A, SF2448B and SF2448C. CONSTITUTION:A strain of Microbispora.sp. SF2448 (FERM P-9503) belonging to the genus Microbispora is cultivated to collect and purify antibiotic substances SF2448A, SF2448B and SF2448C from the resultant culture thereof. A method for culture under aerobic conditions, especially submerged culture method is preferred as the method for culture. Furthermore, column chromatography using an ion exchange gel filter medium, etc., is preferred for purification. The resultant antibiotic substances SF2448 are capable of exhibiting activity against Gram-negative bacteria and useful as an antimicrobial agent and further have expected usefulness as a herbicide. |
