<p>A liquid crystal composition and a liquid crystal display element prepared therefrom and showing a good contrast are disclosed. The composition has a high clear point and a low viscosity, takes a desired value of Δn (n∥ - n ) and shows an improved steepness of the voltage-transmittance curve in a display of super-twisted double refraction effect type. The liquid crystal composition contains a first component compound represented by (I) (wherein R1 represents an alkenyl group bearing 2 to 8 carbon atoms) and a second component compound represented by (II) (wherein R2 represents an alkyl group bearing 1 to 8 carbon atoms, R3 represents H or F, R4 represents an alkyl group bearing 1 to 8 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group, F or CN). A liquid crystal display element prepared from this composition is also disclosed.</p> |
