PURPOSE:To prevent the temperature of a printing head from being raised and prevent noise from being generated by a cooling fan when printing is stopped, by starting the cooling fan by a signal with which a controlling part instructs the printing head to start printing, starting a timer to count time, and stopping the fan upon completion of the counting. CONSTITUTION:A fan controlling part 5 comprises a timer 5a and a register 5b. On the timer 5a, an experimental value of the time required for a printing head 1 to be cooled to such a temperature as not to cause any trouble is set. In the register 5b, a flag indicating that a cooling fan 3 is being rotated is set. The fan controlling part 5 starts the fan 3, and set a flag '1' in the register 5b. Simultaneously with the setting of the flag '1', the timer 5a is reset to start counting, and the fan 3 is stopped upon completion of the counting. Even when printing is stopped, the fan 3 is continued rotating until the end of the counting. When a printing starting instruction is received before the set time is expired, the fan 3 is continued rotation, and the timer 5a is reset to start counting. |
