Belt 11 of a roller brush assembly 1 of a vacuum cleaner is at least partly enclosed in a casing 2 formed by parts 3, 4, the casing being pivotally mounted about axis 6 of drive shaft 7 and being supported by roller brush 9. The casing may be provided with flanges 17 co-operating with ribs 16 on the roller brush to form a labrynthine passage to prevent entry of dirt into the casing in use. An intermediate roller 13 may be located between the drive shaft and roller brush to support the belt. The arrangement is designed to prevent impairment of the belt drive by fluff and dirt. <IMAGE> |
