PURPOSE:To obtain a positive picture image of stable quality having sufficiently high picture image density and low fog in a short developing time by executing heat development of a photosensitive element contg. an internal latent image type silver halide emulsion, a reducing agent, its precursor, and a specified compd. on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive element contg. an internal latent image type silver halide emulsion, a reducing agent and/or its precursor, and a compd. expressed by formula I on a substrate is heat-developed. In formula I, Z<1> is a nonmetal atomic group necessary for forming a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; R<1> is an aliphatic group; X is =C- or -N-; Q is a nonmetal atomic group necessary for forming a 4-12 membered nonaromatic hydrocarbon ring or nonaromatic heterocyclic ring; Y is a counter ion for the balance of electric charge; m is a number of the counter ion necessary for balancing the electric charge. By this constitution, constant performance is obtd. and defects of a process such as high fog density or requirement for relative long developing time is eliminated. |
