PURPOSE:To enable easy correction of print density by inserting a head temperature measurement circuit and a head ambient temperature measurement circuit between CPU and a thermal head, and providing a means to read the temperature and ambient temperature at the time of start and a means to control the temperature that is read through identification. CONSTITUTION:Before starting a thermal printer consisting of CPU 1, a thermal head 2 and thermosensitive paper 3, a means to read 11 on temperatures measured by a head temperature measurement circuit 4 and an ambient temperature measurement circuit 5, is actuated. The temperature measurement circuits 4, 5 normally use a thermister and obtain a signal with a pulse width corresponding to the resistance of the thermister. The temperature of the head is sought based on the pulse width to verify the classification of a temperature range. Thus, the stop and start action is quickly taken in response. When preheating, the head is heated to such an extent that it does not print, and also is caused to wait until printing data is transmitted from the CPU 1 in the standby mode. Thus, it is possible for a line printer to judge whether it can be started in response to a head ambient temperature or it cannot be started immediately, prior to the start of the line printer. |
