Automatic mechanical readjustment for a parking brake of a motor vehicle

For automatically compensating lengths in the cables of parking brakes, a readjustment device is proposed which, for the actuation of the brakes, has an elongate transmission element which can be adjusted by means of a traction cable and on which a supporting yoke is arranged which holds lengths of cable which lead to one wheel brake each. A tensioning device constantly attempts to displace the supporting yoke in the longitudinal direction of the transmission element in order to tension the lengths of cable, the supporting yoke being supported at the same time by means of a supporting device counter to its displacement direction on the transmission element.
