Remote-controlled gear shift, program-controlled for a tractor transmission with electro-pneumatic control

Electro-pneumatic controls for remote control of gear shifts are known for use in lorries with a considerably smaller number of gears than tractor transmissions. The design of the known shifts transferred to contemporary tractor transmissions would result in large shift paths with inadequately precise control. The new remote control is to be easy to use and to reliably carry out all necessary gear shifts. In order to be able to use the control unit (1) - provided with only one shift lever (11) - to perform all the necessary shifts of a tractor transmission, proximity switches (5) are provided on the shift lever (11), the said switches (5) interacting in a contactless fashion with a coding area (10) and transmitting the shift lever positions to a memory-programmable control (29). The number of possible switching positions is increased by a cardanic arrangement of the shift lever (11). The control unit (1) is to be ideally arranged in the cab of a tractor to the side of the driver's seat since it is of extremely compact design and requires little space. <IMAGE>
