PURPOSE:To adjust the pH of water without using chemicals by connecting a single bed contg. an anion or cation exchange resin to a mixed bed contg. anion and cation exchange resins so that the beds are made parallel to each other and by passing water through the beds. CONSTITUTION:A single bed 4 contg. an anion or cation exchange resin is connected to a mixed bed 3 contg. anion and cation exchange resins so that the beds are made parallel to each other. Water is first passed through the mixed bed 3 and then passed through the single bed 4. Since chemicals are not used to properly adjust the pH of high purity water, e.g., in a thermal equipment using the water as a heat medium, the corrosion of metal can be inhibited. |
