PURPOSE:To widen an incident angle, to decrease an optical loss of a joint surface, and also, to obtain a simple constitution which necessitates no jig by forming a lens as one body with an optical waveguide layer and executing optical coupling to a waveguide through the lens. CONSTITUTION:A photopolymerizing monomer and a binding polymer are applied onto a non-linear optical substance 2 of an optical waveguide, an ultraviolet exposure is executed by applying prescribed mask and an exposure part is expanded, and an incident side lens L1 and an emitting side lens L2 are formed. An incident light 10 is made incident from the lens L1 and emitted as a transmission light 11 from the lens L2, and becomes a deflected light 12, when an interdigital electrode 3 is brought to electric conduction. Therefore, since the lens shape can be formed arbitrarily, the incident angle range can be enlarged. Also, since no space exists in the waveguide 2 and the lens joint surface, an optical loss can be decreased. In this regard, a conventional prism holding jig is not required and the constitution can be simplified. |
