The invention relates to a device for catching an opening vehicle panel (1) on a crossmember (2) by means of a lock, comprising, on the one hand, a keeper (6) fastened to the crossmember (2) under an orifice (5) made in an upper partition of said crossmember (2) and, on the other hand, a bolt (4) fixed to a lock part (3) fastened to the panel (1) and, in the catching position, passing through the upper partition of the crossmember (2) by way of the orifice (5), a closing plate (11) of the orifice (5) being carried by the crossmember (2) and being laid onto the upper partition of said crossmember (2) by an elastic return means (14). According to the invention, the closing plate (11) comprises guide means (13-15) and is movable in translational motion in the direction of penetration of the lock part (3) into the orifice (5) of the crossmember (2). <IMAGE>
