PURPOSE:To obtain a reduced picture having high fidelity by deciding the density information of one picture element after a reduction from the number of the on-dots of the pattern data of plural picture elements and fetching the pattern data of corresponding density from a pattern table. CONSTITUTION:A pattern table 26 on which the pattern data corresponding to the respective densities of a pseudo half tone picture, a pattern data segmenting means 22 to segment the pattern data of the plural picture elements, which are the objects of the reduction, from a first memory 21 in a unit to compose one picture element after the reduction, and a dot counting means 23 to count the number of the on-dots of the pattern data of the segmented plural picture elements are provided for the title device. Further, a density calculating means 24 to calculate the density of the on-dots per one picture element from the counted value and decide the density information of one picture element after the reduction and a density corresponding pattern fetching means 25 to fetch the pattern data of the corresponding density from the pattern table 26 by the density information for one picture element and make a second memory 29 store the pattern data are provided for the device. Thus, the pseudo half tone reduced picture having high fidelity can be obtained. |
