PURPOSE:To carry out the spherical work with high precision and high efficiency by holding a workpiece in the squeezed state by a pair of polishing bodies in a working space formed by the upper and lower polishing bodies. CONSTITUTION:When an upper board 23 is revolved in the direction of arrow 30, and a lower board 12 is revolved in the direction of arrow 31, the shift of a workpiece 3 which receives a polishing pressure in the direction of arrow 24 by a weight 25 through a grindstone 27 is regulated so as to move only within a working space 32 formed by a holding body 28 and grindstones 17 and 27, and the workpiece rolls in the squeezed state by the grindstones 17 and 27. The rolling direction in this case changes at all times during working. Therefore, the edge part of the workpiece 3 is removed, and spherical working for forming a true sphere is carried out. Since the workpiece is worked by a cylindrical holding body 28, the spherical working for a small diameter size can be carried out with high efficiency and high precision. |
