METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SEPARATING AMPHOTERIC MIXTURE IN ADSORBING COLUMN/BED

PURPOSE: To execute sepn. of amphoteric mixtures, such as proteins, by diffusing an acid or basic gas in a direction crossing the liquid transporting direction of an adsorption column. CONSTITUTION: The adsorption and sepn. cell of the amphoteric mixtures consmsts of an adsorbent layer 1 held between gas permeable membranes 2. An air chamber 3 is disposed on the outer side of the supporting material of the membranes 2 in such a manner that gaseous CO, or the like is thereby passed along the membrane 2 supporting material from an inlet 4 and is discharged from a discharge line 5. The measurement of the pH of the liquid flowing from a line 16 is made possible and the adjustment of the pH by the acidic or basic gas passed in the direction crossing the adsorbent is made possible. As a result, the components of the liquid mixture passing the line 16 may be separated in the transverse direction of the column.
