PURPOSE:To make automatic assembly possible, to increase production efficiency, and to reduce cost by placing the lugs of plates between long grooves installed on at least one wall surface of a container and a cover. CONSTITUTION:A cover 1 has a projection 10 corresponding to a recess 9 of a container, and has two kinds of long grooves having different depth corresponding to long grooves 7, 8 on the wall surface of a container on the wall surface. A plate group, which has lugs, comprising a cathode plate, a separator, and an anode plate is inserted into the container. The lug of the cathode plate is inserted into the long groove 7 and that of the anode plate is inserted into the long groove 8. A safety vent is inserted into a safety vent part 11, and an electrolyte is poured in the container, then the cover 1 is melt bonded. The insertion of the lugs into the holes is unnecessary and a battery can easily be assembled even if the positioning of the lugs is somewhat unstable. The bending or breakage of the lug is prevented. |
