<p>PURPOSE:To monitor behavior of the entity of a cable, by comparing the area of a current image at a movable section of a power cable taken through a TV camera with the area of an image at initial laying stage provided with an allowance, then comparing the differential area with a specific value. CONSTITUTION:An initial profile 30 at an offset section immediately after installation is photographed through a TV camera, then an allowable cable behavior range is added to an initial profile image 32 thus producing an image 34. Then a current profile 30' at the offset section is monitored continuously through the TV camera during operation of the cable thus producing an image 36 as shown on a screen 26. When the area of the image 36 is compared with the area of the image provided with an allowance through a personal computor, an image representing only an abnormal behavior section is obtained as shown on a screen 28. The area, i.e. pixels, of the image 38 is counted, and if it exceeds over a predetermined level, an alarm is provided to inform abnormality.</p> |
