PURPOSE:To maintain a titled wire extension constant by obtaining a prescribed number of discrimination data at every prescribed control period in accordance with the detection of welding current, and controlling the position of a welding torch when the specific discrimination data is a majority. CONSTITUTION:A welding wire 3 is projected from a welding torch 1 in the direction of a base metal 2. The torch 1, supported to the stanchion 4a of a slide adjusting mechanism 4, is provided freely slidably with a slide base 4d on the base 4b of the stanchion 4a via a guide bar 4c. The position of the torch 1 is moved in the direction where it is approached or withdrawn to or from the metal 2 by a motor 4e via a screw bar 4f. On the other hand, the welding current is detected by a detecting circuit 5 and is outputted to a smoothing circuit 6. A smoothing signal is outputted from the circuit 6 to a discrimination processing circuit 7. The circuit 7 obtains a required number of detection data in the prescribed control period, obtains the discrimination data by comparing the data with high reference data and low reference data, and outputs a control command signal to a control circuit 8 when the far or near discrimination data among the same is a majority, thereby driving the motor 4e. |
