<p>A games bat comprises a substantially planar side member (12) having a ball engaging front surface, a plurality of reinforcing members (16 to 22) secured to the rear surface of the side member, and a handle (30) mounted between two of said reinforcing members (18 and 22) behind the side member. Preferably second side member is provided so that the reinforcing members (16 to 22) and handle (30) are sandwiched between the side members and the player's hand is inserted through an opening (26).
