PURPOSE: To readily remove interfering substances from waste water and pre- treating fiber materials through simple operations by using a phosphorus- containing assistant agent represented by a specific structure and by alkaline scouring and/or bleaching in an aqueous medium. CONSTITUTION: A compound represented by the formula [R is a 6-10C alkyl; X is H, Na, K, NR<1> R<2> R<3> R<4> (R<1> -R<4> are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, CH2 CH2 -OH)] is used as a phosphorus-containing assistant agent and textile materials are pretreated in aqueous media by alkaline scoring and/or bleaching. In a preferred embodiment, the compound is pref. used in an amount of 0.1-2 wt.% based on the aqueous medium and R in the compound is pref. 2,4,4-trimethylpentyl or 1-ethylpentyl group. |
