PURPOSE:To enable the operator to recognize a recorded image as a normal image and to read easily the results of recording, by disposing a recorder on the rear side of a recording medium, with respect to a feeding passage for the medium, and by recording images in the state of being reversed left side right on the medium which has a see-through property. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 72 functioning as a recording means is disposed on the rear side of a transparent tape 70. According to dot pattern data, the head 72 reads sequentially column data of a dot matrix constituting a character, starting from the leftmost column, and drives an array of heat generating elements to print the character in the state of being reversed left side right on the rear side on the tape 70. The tape feeding direction when viewed from the head 72 is set opposite to an ordinary direction, whereby the printed pattern is the horizontally reversed pattern, though the dot pattern and the reading sequence are the same as those in the case of printing a normal image. |
