PURPOSE:To provide the present electrode with excellent corrosion resistance, high temp. characteristics, initial activation characteristics and conservative characteristics by regulating the compsn. of an alloy electrode to specific compounding ratios of Mm(misch-metal)-Ni-Co-Al-Mn series having a CaCu5 type hexagonal crystal structure. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. of the hydrogen occluding alloy electrode is constituted of the alloy having a CaCu5 type hexagonal crystal structure which can be expressed by MmNiaCobAlxMny (Mm denotes misch metal and 3.0<=a<=3.4, 0.8<=b<=1.2, 4.0<=a+b<=4.4, 0.1<=x<=0.3 and 0.5<=y<=0.7 are regulated). At the time of using said hydrogen occluding alloy as the electrode for a closed type alkali storage battery, the amounts of hydrogen occlusion, its conservative characteristics and activation degree are made excellent particularly in the range of high temp. |
