PURPOSE:To enable easy setting or modification of functions or specifications, by providing a setter in the form of a card-shaped integral unit separate from a main body of a printer, and connecting the unit mechanically detachably and electrically to the main body of the printer. CONSTITUTION:A multiplicity of changeover switches provided on the upper side of a casing 1 of a setter FC have contact pieces, which can be connected to and disconnected from a wiring pattern on a circuit board 2 provided in the casing 1. A female-type connector 3 is connected to an end part of the board 2, and is exposed to the exterior through a through-hole 1a. In the vicinity of each of the switches, the content or item of the switch is indicated with a symbol or an abbreviation. A front part of a housing 4 of a main body P of a printer is provided with a slot 4a in which the setter FC can be inserted, whereas a controlling circuit board 5 for the printer P is provided in the housing 4. A male-type connector 6 capable of detachable engagement with the female- type connector 3 is connected to the board 5. The switches of the setter FC can be easily changed over in the state where the setter is drawn out of the main body of the printer P closed to the operator. |
