Optical sights utilize prism constructions to reduce their focal length. Incident light entering the prism construction is reflected from internal surfaces of the prism construction. One of those internal surfaces, which is planar, is intersected by the focal plane and has a reticle thereon. In the prism construction of the subject invention the reticle is defined on the planar surface by a region of that surface lacking reflective backing, and a light source is positioned on the backing side of the planar surface for directing light through at least a portion of that region of the surface lacking reflective backing.
|
