The subject of the invention is a process for the addition of organic hypohalites ROX to the double bond of an organic compound. This process is characterized in that at least one halocyanuric compound is added progressively to a mixture comprising at least one polar organic solvent, at least one ROH compound, R having the abovementioned meaning, and at least one unsaturated organic compound so as to avoid the accumulation of active halogen in the reaction medium, in that, during this addition, the reaction temperature is controlled in order that it does not exceed the desired value by more than 5 DEG C and in that, at the end of the reaction, purification of the product obtained is carried out as soon as the concentration of active halogen no longer exceeds 0.1 % by weight in the reaction medium.
