The present invention relates to a projectile head intended for dispersal of a dispersible substance, such as an incendiary composition. The head 3 comprises a longitudinal casing 8 capable of breaking under the effect of an internal pressure and enclosing the dispersible composition 41; it is characterised in that it comprises controlled mechanical means, such as a piston 42, capable of being displaced longitudinally in a controlled manner within the casing 7, and means 21 for controlling the mechanical pressurising means; in the case of an incendiary head, the pressurisation and expulsion of the incendiary composition 41 from the casing 7 immediately prior to the igniting of this incendiary composition 41. The dispersal of the dispersible substance, such as an incendiary composition, and the ignition of the latter take place reliably in a homogeneous manner. <IMAGE>
