The present invention relates to a movable and retractable air deflector for a motor vehicle. This deflector has the shape of a panel 1 provided with lateral runners 2 sliding respectively in two slideways 3 which are parallel and secured to the bodywork 5 inside a compartment of this bodywork, this deflector being actuated by a gear motor unit 8 actuating cables 10 connected to the lateral runners 2.
