PURPOSE:To prevent freezing of water in a pump when the pump is left in suspension state by always monitoring the temperature of water in the pump by means of a pump apparatus and permitting automatic operation of the pump in accordance with necessity, in order to permit substitution of water in the pump. CONSTITUTION:A pump apparatus is equipped with a pump 2, a temperature detector 10 for the water in the pump 2 which is equipped with a piping 9 for the relief water for preventing water-temperature rise during shut-off operation of the pump 2, and a control apparatus 11 which allows said temperature detector 10 to detect the low water-temperature over the freezing point above which freezing in the pump 2 can be prevented, and starts shut-off operation of the pump 2 and continues shut-off operation for the time in which the water in the pump 2 is discharged from the relief piping 9 for preventing the water-temperature rise and the pump 2 is filled with hot water in substitution. Therefore, even if the pump 2 is left in suspension state, and the environmental temperature at the pump installation position lowers to the temperature for the water in the pump 2 to freeze, freezing of the pump 2 can be obviated. |
