Improvements made to the mounting of peepholes (charging doors) made of fibrous refractory materials in a furnace wall produced from the same materials or from similar materials, which are characterised in that they consist in interposing between the fibrous refractory wall 2, 3, 4 and the peephole (charging door) 1 a layer 6 of highly compressed fibrous refractory materials which surrounds the combustion tunnel and which is kept cold by an adhesive paper which is consumed at high temperature thus releasing the layer to the heat, which layer, no longer being held, can expand freely thereby blocking the passages of the wall 2, 3, 4 - peephole (charging door) 1 connection, thus affording excellent sealing at high temperature. <IMAGE>
