PURPOSE:To form basic calcined firebrick having excellent slag resistance, heat spalling resistance and structural spalling resistance, by blending a magnesia material with metal aluminum having specific particle diameter in a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. refractory raw material consisting essentially of MgO is blended with 0.05-1 pt.wt. metal aluminum having <=2mm particle diameter. Natural magnesia clinker, sea water magnesia clinker, magnesia clinker of electric erosion, etc., may be cited as the refractory raw material. The above-mentioned calcined firebrick of magnesia base is obtained by blending the refractory raw material with metal aluminum and a binder (e.g., polyurethane, polypropylene, wax or bittern), molding the blend and calcining in an oxidizing atmosphere at about 1,400-1,700 deg.C. |
