PURPOSE:To obtain a superconducting ceramic having a high critical temperature and high critical current density, by adding a nonaqueous organic binder to raw material powder consisting of an oxide of trivalent rare earth element, BaO2 and CuO2, granulating, calcining, molding into a given shape and burning. CONSTITUTION:Raw material powder consisting of an oxide of trivalent rare earth element such as Y, Nd, Dy, Eu, Gd or Ho, BaO2 and CuO2 is blended in the atomic ratio of R/Ba/Cu of 1/2/3 and mixed by a hall mill, etc., to give mixed raw material powder, which is incorporated with a nonaqueous organic binder and granulated. Then, the prepared granulated powder is calcined in atmosphere, e.g., at about 90 deg.C for about 32 hours and ground by a ball mill to give powder having a composition shown by the formula RBa2Cu3O7-x (x is <=1). Then, the powder is molded into a desired shape to give a molded article, which is burnt in an oxygen atmosphere at about 900 deg.C for about 5 hours to give the subject ceramic. |
