PURPOSE:To prevent the dangling of the edge due to the excessive grinding of the edge by installing a control means for switching the stepping pressure of a pressing member to a low value and for controlling said pressure when a workpiece detector detects that the edge of the workpiece is at the width position of the pressing member. CONSTITUTION:When a workpiece W passes through a material feeding passage, the width of the workpiece W is detected by two workpiece detectors S arranged within the width intervals corresponding to a pressing member 18, in front of the pressing member 18. In this case, if the edge (e) of the workpiece W is at the width position of the pressing member 18 getting over two workpiece detectors S, one of the contiguous detectors S turned ON, and the other is turned OFF. The pressure conversion devices V1 and V2 are operated by a control means CPU on the basis of the ON/OFF-signals, and an air cylinder 22 of the pressing member 18 on the edge (e) of the workpiece W communicates to a low pressure air source P1. Therefore, the pressing member 18 is pressed onto the edge (e) of the workpiece W through a sanding belt. Therefore, the edge (e) of the workpiece is prevented from being excessively sanded by the sanding belt. |
