PURPOSE:To easily remove defective carriers by allowing a magnetic force and an electrostatic force on carrier particles at the same time and classifying carrier particles on which no sufficient magnetic force operates. CONSTITUTION:An insulating dielectric member 17 which is charged electrostatically to a predetermined polarity is brought into contact with carrier particles 16 which are conveyed on a sleeve 15 through the rotation of the sleeve 15 and magnetic roller 14 of a developing device to remove weak magnetic carriers. In this case, the magnetic force FM generated by the magnetic roller 14 and the electrostatic force Fc generated by the insulating dielectric member are made to operate on the carrier particles 16 at the same time, and carrier particles which satisfy FM<Fc are stuck on the insulating dielectric member 17 from the sleeve 15 to classify the weak magnetic carriers as defective carriers. The weak magnetic carriers are easily removed completely by the same model with a development part after the classifying process in the manufacture of resin carriers, so an excellent output having no stain at its image background part is obtained. |
