The invention relates to aircraft canopies for aircraft in weight classes E, G, F, I, K, H and gliders. The nose of the fuselage and the cockpit windows are permanently connected, that is to say without any gaps, as a result of which the aerodynamic fuselage drag is reduced. For entry/exit, the entire nose of the fuselage, including the cockpit windows, is hinged upwards in a spring-assisted manner, as a result of which it is possible to enter from ground level. When the canopy is closed, a sealing mechanism becomes effective. It produces a hermetic seal, reliable attachment to the fuselage, and fixing between the outer walls of the canopy and the fuselage with millimetric accuracy and such that the shapes are flush. With one-hand, one-lever operation, both opening and closing as well as emergency ejection of the canopy are possible.
