PURPOSE:To accomplish a secondary battery with high energy density, excellent cycle characteristics at high potential, and enhanced stability and reliability by using a specific compound turned into amorphous crystals as pos. electrode active substance. CONSTITUTION:A substance presented by the expression MxV2O5 is used as pos. electrode active substance, where M represents alkali metal, and x is the amount of intercalation of alkali metal ion to V2O5. The alkali metal ion is intercalated previously until the x value exceeds 1.8, and thereby compound turned into amorphous crystals is made a pos. electrode active substance. To obtain such a compound, reaction is made electrochemically in electrolyte, for ex. with the crystalline V2O5 as pos. electrode and the alkali metal or an alloy therefrom as neg. electrode. As neg. electrode active substance, alloy of alkali of alkali metal is used, which is capable of occluding and emitting alkali metal or alkali metal ions. As electrolyte, further, a non-aqueous substance with alkali metal ion conductivity is used. A one with great charging and discharging capacity over 2V is obtained. |
