Ink-ribbon cartridges for typewriters or office machines of similar design are subject to different construction requirements, in which case they are to be easily exchangeable above all by means of one-handed operation. Since the transporting elements, for example for the carbon ribbon, of such cartridges are also mounted in the housing, these cartridges are very expensive. In order to avoid this, ink-ribbon cartridges with exchangeable ink-ribbon spools have been disclosed. However, these have the disadvantage that deposits from the ink ribbon occur in the outlet opening (27) and the inlet opening (28) when several newly inserted ink-ribbon spools have run through. These deposits lead, on the one hand, to severe soiling of the machinery and, on the other hand, to interferences in the ink-ribbon drive. According to the invention, this is avoided in that the inlet opening (28) and the outlet opening (27) for the ink ribbon (9) in the cartridge housing have reduced-friction deflection elements with integrated dust chambers (60) and strips. These deflection elements can consist of a PTFE coating (17, 18), deflection rollers or even of special slide pieces with incorporated lubricants. By means of their outer shape, the friction-reduced deflection elements prevent soiling of the machinery and guarantee an interference-free drive of the ink ribbon. <IMAGE>
