A saw blade, for example for scroll (fret, jig) or band saws, in which a wire-like metallic support is joined by means of a solder, preferably a hard solder, to angular particles of hard material, in particular cemented-carbide grit, is to be further developed in such a way that it has a considerably longer service life than the ones used hitherto. It has been found that by replacing the known monofilament metallic support by at least two wires 4 stranded together as support the desired long service lives are obtained: by means of the notches obtained, in practice, between the individual wires the solder 6 is given a better and larger attachment area, and by embedding base regions of the grit particles into the notches provided, the solder retaining said particles is not subjected to direct erosion by the material being cut. <IMAGE>
