PURPOSE:To form a head with a good yield by forming a gap in piling up thin films in the sequence of a gap member and soft magnetic thin films. CONSTITUTION:In soft magnetic thin films 2 and 2' made into main magnetic paths through a gap member 3 on nonmagnetic substrates 1 and 1' in which a winding hole 5 is processed beforehand, one side is masked in making a gap surface into a boundary, thereafter, the soft magnetic thin film 2 is formed to the other side, and after a masking remove, the gap member 3 and the soft magnetic thin film 2' to compose the magnetic circuit of one side are formed in being overlapped. A track width is regulated by the thickness of the soft magnetic thin film 2, and the film thickness of a gap member 2 is made into a gap length. Thus, a gap length accuracy and the accuracy of the track length are also made high, and since a gap surface separation is not generated, a magnetic head can be inexpensively formed with the good yield. |
