PURPOSE:To obtain an optical card which is capable of recording information with high density and is difficult to alter and can be mass-produced, by providing the first recording layer consisting of a light-transmissive part and a light shielding part, the second recording layer consisting of a reflective metallic thin film, and ansensitizing layer in order on the lower face of a base material. CONSTITUTION:Optical recording materials 3 are provided on a card base material 2, and a base material 4 for optical recording materials, the first recording layer 7 which is provided under the base material 4 and consists of a light-transmissive part 5 and a light shielding part 6, the second recording layer 8 which is provided under the first recording layer 7 and consists of the reflective metallic thin film layer, and a sensitizing layer 9 constitute said optical recording materials 3. In case of information write on the layer 8, an energy beam like a laser beam is condensed by a lens or the like and is irradiated on the layer 8 and a metal in the irradiated part is evaporated or maldistributed to form recording bits. In case of information read, an energy beam which is too weak to fuse the layer 8 is condensed and irradiated on the first and the second recording layers from the protective layer side of the optical card and the intensity and the phase variance of the reflected light are detected in relation to each other. |
