PURPOSE: To lengthen the sevice life of a battery, and maintain agitating, circulating and precipitating phenomena and hydrogen diluting and heat removing effects by pulsatively supplying a gas flow to a bubble tube. CONSTITUTION: A cross tube 37 having an air outlet hole 38 and an upward extending arm 39 is positioned just under an anode 35, and the bottom ends of respective vertical tubes 39 are communicated with an air manifold 40. Air and the other gas are supplied to the manifold 40 from a pump 75 installed under a bottom wall 13 having a recessed part. Outside air can be sucked in this pump from an inlet 41, and is supplied to the manifold 40 through an inlet line 76. Various devices are used to supply a pulsative gas flow through the manifold 40 and a bubble tube 37. For example, the pump 75 may be a reciprocating air pump, and may be various air pumps to be used in relation to a pulse control device to pulsate an air flow through the inlet tube 76. |
