The invention relates to a geomembrane, that is to say a layer of material in the form of a sheet and intended to form barriers which are impermeable to liquids, for example for forming artificial water-retaining tanks. This geomembrane is characterised in that it is at least partially made of a sheet of microporous material which is impermeable to liquids and permeable to gases. Thus, the air or gas appearing under the geomembrane will be able to pass freely through the latter and will not build up, which avoids the appearance of pockets and of the problems which they cause. <IMAGE>
