Electromagnetic single-surface brake

A description is given of an electromagnetic single-surface brake for coupling two parts rotatable relative to one another, having a ferromagnetic brake disc which lies opposite the poles of an electromagnet and is held secure against rotation and axially displaceable on a shaft that can be rotated relative to the electromagnet. To allow automatic adjustment and to prevent the brake disc from causing rattling noises due to its freedom of movement on the shaft supporting it, it is provided on the side remote from the electromagnet with a damping disc composed of an elastic material, this damping disc having a hole which is somewhat smaller in the relaxed condition than the cross-section of the supporting shaft, with the result that the damping disc sits on the shaft with slight pressure.
