In order to provide a device for protecting gas jet emitters from overheating, the gas jet emitter consisting of a metallic distribution piece with air inlet, air filter, tuyere-connection receptacle of a gas supply line and also a connection for a gas-mixing pipe, and a metallic gas-mixing pipe with flame-retention screen being inserted into this connection, and furthermore a flame safety device being provided which consists of a solenoid valve which is fitted into the gas supply line and of a thermocouple arranged in the region of the combustion gases, which components are electrically interconnected, it is proposed that there is arranged on the gas-mixing pipe (4) a thermal release (6) which can be influenced by the temperature of the gas-mixing pipe (4) and is connected to a supply line of the thermal release (6). <IMAGE>
