PURPOSE: To run and move a roller chain along a three-dimensionally curved guide by connecting two adjacent pins supporting tumbling rollers by flexible ropes transmitting tensile force and non-compressible flexible spacers transmitting compression force. CONSTITUTION: A chain link for a web in-feed apparatus of a printing machine has pins 1, tumbling rollers 2 and stop rings 3 and flexible ropes 4, 5 and spacers 6 are arranged between the adjacent pins 1 and the ropes 4, 5 pierce the spacers 6. The adjacent pins 1 are mutually held at a predetermined interval by the spacers 6 and the interval is equal to the pitch distance (t) of the links of a roller chain and the tooth pitch of a chain wheel 12. The spacers 6 are constituted as coil springs and the ropes 4, 5 are connected to the respective pins 1. By this connection, the ropes 4, 5 transmit tensile force in in-feed elements and the uncompressed spacers 6 transmit generated compression force. |
