<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of light required of a light source by moving simultaneously the light source, a SELFOC lens array (SLA) or an electro-optic crystal and a photosensitive body, and ensuring that the range of the crystal simultaneously irradiated with light from the light source coincides substantially to the range of condensing achievable by the SLA. CONSTITUTION:A printer head comprises an electro-optic crystal 111, a photosensitive body 112, pixels aij on the crystal 111, pixels bij on the body 112 corresponding respectively to the pixels aij, a reflector 113, a light source 114, and an SLA 115. A light flux 116 from the light source 114 is condensed by the SLA 115 into a light flux 117, with which the photosensitive body 112 is irradiated. The light source 114 and the SLA 115 are scanningly moved in the direction of an arrow 118. When the quantity of light required of the light source is calculated by assuming that the size of the body 112 is x0Xy0, the width on the electro-optic crystal of the light with which the crystal is irradiated is land the width to which the light is condensed by the SLA 115 is d, the quantity of light is found to be 1.3% based on that required in a conventional system. Thus, efficiency in using the light is enhanced, which enables reductions in wattage of the light source and power consumption and a higher speed.</p> |
